This is the story of how a personal frustration in 2023 turned into a mission to save thousands of headsets across the UK.

The 2016 Classics

The journey began with a personal favourite: a pair of SteelSeries Siberia 840s. Purchased back in 2016, these headphones were a gamer’s dream. They weren’t just headphones; they were a reliable companion through years of late-night raids and marathon sessions.

Technically, they were still perfect. They sounded as crisp as day one, and thanks to the hot-swappable battery system, they never ran out of juice. But by 2023, seven years of use had taken its toll. The earpads weren’t just "worn"—they were disintegrating.

The UK Gap

I didn't want to throw away a perfectly functional, high-end piece of kit just because of some crumbling faux leather. It felt like a waste of money and a waste of great hardware.

However, when I went looking for replacements, I hit a wall. Finding high-quality, compatible earpads within the UK was surprisingly difficult. Everything was either out of stock, overpriced, or shipped with eye-watering delivery times.

Frustrated, I took matters into my own hands and sourced professional-grade replacements directly from specialised manufacturers. When they arrived and I snapped them onto my Siberia 840s, the headset felt brand new.

That was the Lightbulb moment. I realised I wasn’t the only person in the UK struggling to find a simple fix for their favourite gear.

What started as a self-repair journey in 2023 quickly gained momentum. By New Year’s Eve 2024, Headset Hut was officially registered as a business. We didn't want to just be another electronics shop; we wanted to be the UK’s go-to destination for extending the life of your tech.

Since those first Siberia earpads, we’ve grown at a lightning pace.
